The purpose of the foundation is the direct and indirect support of
social, humanitarian, agricultural, ecological, scientific and cultural projects,
with preference for training for self-help and sustainability,
of institutions active in health care: research, scholarships, support of patients and students in need of assistance. The foundation is a non-profit organization and operating internationally; its support can be for individuals and institutions or for social facilities that answer the foundations purpose.
The Peter Baumann Foundation in its role as a charitable private foundation has been exempted from taxes and is monitored by the Swiss regulating authority for foundations (Eidgenössischer Stiftungsaufsicht) in Berne, Switzerland. The foundation aims to use its means to support social projects in the most effective way in order to ensure adherence to the purpose of the foundation. The organs of the Peter Baumann Foundation are guided by entrepreneurial principles of Good Governance within the context of the foundation. The foundation is audited annually by Deloitte.
